The shortlist for the Fine Art Textiles Award is supported by Open College of the Arts in the United Kingdom. The list is made up of only 14 pieces and you can view them all at this link.
The five judges, Annie Warburton, Esna Su, Michael Brennand-Wood, Yemi Awosile, Yoshiko Iwamoto Wada, and Jo Hall said the following about the shortlist:
Following rigorous selection, the final award shortlist presents the very best in cutting edge work. The Fine Art Textiles Award is a unique exhibition which seeks to demonstrate the high standards of expression and skill in the artistic medium of conceptual textiles today. We were pleased to see a wide spectrum of approaches across textile mediums and techniques reflected in the 160 works submitted.
The winner will be announced on August 18 at the Festival of Quilts Award Ceremony in Burmingham England. The prize is 5000 pounds.
The shortlisted works will be displayed at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham. from August 18 - August 21. Tickets to the festival are available on the Festival website. This exhibition of shortlisted work will also be displayed in London at the Knitting and Stitching Show October 6 - 9 2022 and at the Knitting and Stitching Show in Harrogate November 17 - 20 2022.
