Craft Ontario Award Reception October 30

Save the Date for the Awards Reception in Toronto this fall.

Pictured is Judy Martin's Lamentation quilt.  Judy won the Gladstone House Award and will be in attendance to receive it on October 30.


The Craft Awards recognize excellence and celebrate accomplished and dedicated practitioners in the field of craft and design. This year we are thrilled to announce the 2024 recipients, and hope you will join us in celebrating their achievements at the reception of the Craft Award Recipient Exhibition. Special thanks to this year's jurors: Ana Galindo, Annie Tung, Habiba El-Sayed, Heidi Earnshaw, Jean Marshall, and Rob Raeside!

Craft '19 opens September 5

Judy Martin's hand stitched wall piece is included in this exhibition.  Her work is featured on the announcement for the show (see above image)

Title of her work is:  How Much I Tried Not To Worry
Found fabrics including silks, wool suitings and sheers, a little acrylic paint and hand stitched with black wool thread.  2019.  39" x 39"

The exhibition opens September 5 at reception 6 pm
1106 Queen Street West, Toronto Ontario at the Craft Ontario gallery.

For this exhibition, the jurors (David Kaye, Annie Tung, Susan Jefferies) were asked to include work from each of the four core regions of the province.   Only 12 pieces were selected from a field of 263.

The eleven other artists included are:  Amanda Rataj, Brianna Gluszak, Hae Joung Han, Janet Macpherson, Joon Hee Kim, Linda Brine, Susan Low-Beer, Wanxing Wang, Linsay MacDonald, Tanya Lyons and Tammy McClennan.

Sandra curated an exhibition about Canadian quilts at the 2012 Alsace Festival of quilts.   She included two of Judy's pieces in that exhibition.  Energy Cloth and 24 hour care.
